We all have that little voice inside us, that gut feeling that helps us navigate through life—sometimes loud, sometimes whispering. But it will fade if we ignore it or don’t give it the nourishment it needs to guide us.
Let’s explore the fascinating idea of feeding our intuition. It’s not just about listening to it when it speaks to us but about consciously feeding it the right ‘food’—we’re not only talking about physical nourishment. We’re talking about mental and emotional nourishment, which is key in keeping that inner wisdom sharp and reliable.

Intuition is the ability to understand or know something instinctively without conscious reasoning. It doesn’t live in the mind; it lives in our body.
How do we trust our guides to tap into our intuition? How do we know it’s not our mind, ego, or wishful thinking? For starters, our intuition doesn’t use a lot of words. We will not always get the whole story at once. But just that first step.
Feeding our inner compass is a practice that involves nourishing the body with healthy food, the mind with meaningful ideas, and the spirit with clarity.
By understanding how these three elements work together, we can cultivate a more intuitive, conscious, and empowered way of living. I have experienced this over and over in my life.
A personal example: Years ago, I was inspired to write a cookbook and share my seasonal Italian gluten-free cooking knowledge. A friend told me about a writing workshop with a renowned writer in Santa Fe.
I got her contact information and called her. I shared my idea for a cookbook, and she said, “I’m so sorry this class is writing a memoir.” She wished me luck.
I was walking home that same day and heard my inner voice say, “Writing is writing”. I started to feel excited about taking this workshop. I was also intimidated, but it felt right in my body, so I took the workshop.
What was also impressive was having structure at a time when my life as I knew it blew up. It supported me through a year of grief; the bonus was that it made me a better writer.
We all have inner guides, whether we recognize them or not. We must be open to hearing them, and then we have a choice whether to listen. The more I trust my inner voice, the more I connect to my intuition.
When we are grounded and have a quiet mind, intuition has more room to guide us.
Here are three practical ways to feed your intuition:
Energy Flow and Clarity: Morning breath work (5-7 deep cleansing breaths), and proper nutrition stabilize energy levels; minimizing stress, clearing mental fog, and allowing space for more apparent intuitive responses.
Secondly, healthy choices include foods that enhance cognitive function and contribute to overall wellness. Brain-boosting foods (like omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, etc.) support mental agility and influence intuitive thinking.
Lastly, our mental input. The ideas and information we expose ourselves to influence our intuitive insights. Feeding the mind with creative stimuli and learning new things sharpens our intuition.
What are you feeding your body and your mind? What kind of thoughts are you thinking? We all have fearful thoughts occasionally, but the more we practice giving attention to them, the easier it gets to shift our attention to an idea that aligns with our values.
It certainly has for me. Trust that cultivating a balanced mind and body allows your intuition to guide you more clearly and confidently through life’s uncertainties.
