The Perfect Mulled Apple Cider

Mulled cider is a warm and cozy beverage that is perfect for chilly autumn and winter evenings. The fragrance of spices and citrus fruits blended with crisp apples is a perfect combination that will warm your senses. This ancient recipe has been enjoyed for centuries, and you can enjoy it too with this easy to make recipe.


Ingredients:

• 8 cups of fresh apple cider

• 2 oranges

• 2 cinnamon sticks

• 6 cloves

• 1 whole nutmeg

• 4 slices of fresh ginger

• 1/2 cup of brown sugar

• 1 cup of spiced rum (optional)

• Additional cinnamon sticks and

orange slices (for garnish)


Directions:

Take a large pot and pour in the fresh apple cider.

Cut two oranges in half and squeeze the juice into the pot, and then place the squeezed oranges into the pot.


Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger to the pot.

Stir in the brown sugar to the cider mixture.


Simmer the mixture over medium heat for 20-25 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally.

After 25 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and discard the orange halves and other spices.


Add the spiced rum (optional) to the cider mixture and stir.


Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove any remaining solid ingredients.

Serve the mulled cider hot and garnish each cup with a cinnamon stick and a slice of orange.
